My husband was an amateur flutist besides being a diplomat. We put together a program of flute and guitar with lots of variety to compensate that he didn’t practice too much. His romantic dream was to fly a plane to all our concerts. While he was on loan to the pentagon he was able to join the military club at Quantico and learned to fly a small plane. After he got his pilots license he wanted to fly us to our concerts. It basically meant he flew the plane and I screamed. Each time he flew us anywhere something would happen. One time we flew into upper new your state in the snow. We had played a concert the night before and he offered to take our sponsor up on a ride in the small plane. The runway had not been cleared of the snow. As they started to take off the plane skidded on the airstrip and skidded straight into a snow bank. They never got off the ground. Our sponsor was scared to death of course and the air port maintenance were furious at my husband as they had to tow the plane out of the snow bank. After having had a successful concert we were never invited back as the sponsor feared for his life!
